“The way you do anything is the way you do EVERYTHING!”
Hello, I want to reintroduce myself as it’s been awhile since my last post.
My name is Jack Willoughby, and I’ve had the privilege of guiding brands from their humble beginnings to making some serious noise in the market.
After years of wearing different hats — from being the go-to marketing guy in-house to branching out on my own as a consultant (and now running a creative agency for health and fitness businesses) — one common thread has kept me grounded: discipline.
And today, I want to explain why I believe working out might just be the most crucial first step toward achieving business success.
So, why should hitting the gym or going for that early morning run matter to your venture?
Think about it for a moment.
Working out isn’t just a physical activity, it’s a declaration.
It’s you saying, “I respect myself enough to stay fit and healthy.”
And that’s extremely powerful!
People around you notice this discipline and, in turn, learn to respect your commitment.
Here’s a quote I live by:
“The way you do anything is the way you do everything.”
When you make working out part of your daily routine, you’re not just improving and strengthening your body, you’re honing traits essential for business success — discipline, endurance, focus, and resilience.
Let me break this down:
Discipline:
Waking up early and going for a 5–10 km run as the sun rises or consistently hitting the gym every evening demands a level of self-control that’s invaluable in business. Imagine applying that same tenacity to meeting deadlines, selling or staying organised at work. The results can be transformative!
Respect:
Seeing someone committed to their fitness journey naturally draws admiration. In business, people gravitate towards leaders who showcase dedication, consistency and the ability to get Sh*t done!
Work Ethic
If you can push through the barrier of physical fatigue during workouts, you’re conditioning yourself to tackle complex challenges in your entrepreneurial journey head-on without backing down.
Commitment
Every successful business needs commitment from its leaders. By committing time to improve yourself physically, you’re practicing how to stay committed despite struggles — be it with clients or projects that don’t go as planned.
From my experience working with startups and advising small businesses— I’ve realised that psychological readiness can propel or paralyse progress more than any market strategy ever could.
A simple but effective workout regime builds mental toughness needed when facing setbacks and L’s common in entrepreneurial ventures.
Finally, remember this thought-provoking quote by Jim Rohn:
“Take care of your body; it’s the only place you have to live.”
We can spend hours on hours reading self-improvement books searching for answers and shortcuts to success, forgetting consistent inner self-discipline does half the work already!
How many businesses failed because founders burnt themselves out rather than maintaining balanced lives?
A LOT!
Show self-empathy, treating your health as a priority.
Trust me, this will translate to also performing across professional domains.
Here’s to working on yourself for better business prosperity.
Till next time,
